DraftKings NFT Marketplace Goes Live
DraftKings is now in the NFT business after launching a new marketplace that allows its users to buy and sell non-fungible tokens of sports’ biggest and brightest stars.
DraftKings Sportsbook, casino, and DFS players can now buy and eventually sell a variety of NFTs. Users can access the new market place through a variety of the popular sports gaming brand’s platforms, streamlining involvement in the budding industry.

DraftKings NFT Marketplace Launches
DraftKings has long been an aggressive company, showing a willingness to expand into different markets. The DFS giant began its sportsbook and casino operators in recent years, and this latest move into the NFT business shows a desire to grow its portfolio of offerings.
So, what what is an NFT? In short, it is an authentic digital property. Earlier this year, the NFT wave invaded sports with the arrival of NBA Top Shot, which gives a person the opportunity to own NBA digital collectibles.
With interest in NFTs rapidly growing, the DraftKings Marketplace is likely to bring added attention to the technology, while also breaking it down an easy-to-use forum.
At the onset, DraftKings will offer the PreSeason Access Collection, collectibles featuring a number of top athletes. The first NFT “drop” will feature “Signature” and “Premiere”editions. Signature series NFTs will include digital autographs.
The PreSeason Access Collection by Autograph will account for the first featured drops. Each athlete will have a variety of “Premier” and “Signature” NFTs available in the DraftKings Marketplace. The Signature series will have digital autographs from those athletes. The first drop features Tom Brady.
How the DraftKings NFT Marketplace Works
Current users of DraftKings Sportsbook, DraftKings Casino, and DFS can use their user names and passwords to access the marketplace.
On predetermined dates and times, DraftKings will have drops of new NFTs. Users will have advanced notice of schedule drops on the marketplace homepage.
Before a drop occurs, users will enter a virtual waiting room, grab a spot in the queue, and wait to receive a randomized spot for purchases of these limited edition items.
Following purchase, users can access their NFTs in the portfolio section of the app.
In the secondary market, users can buy other NFTs or place their owned items for sale.
While the marketplace is officially open for business, DraftKings is working on expanding its scope in the coming weeks and months. The company will soon add auctions, withdraw capabilities, public portfolios and more.
Just the Start
While the DraftKings Market for NFT purchases is up and running, the current iteration is just the start. Developers are currently working to expand auctions, withdraw capabilities, public portfolios, and more.
DraftKings Charts NFT Long-Game With Marketplace Debut
Sports betting site DraftKings is getting into the non-fungible token (NFT) game with an in-house NFT platform it unveiled Monday.
A collaboration with Tom Brady’s NFT side hustle, Autograph, the DraftKings Marketplace will begin “dropping” NFTs featuring the U.S. football Buccaneers quarterback on Wednesday. More athlete drops will closely follow, DraftKings said. The DraftKings-Autograph tie-up was first revealed last month.
The NFTs will be minted on an “eco-friendly Ethereum layer 2” that DraftKings declined to identify. The company said it recently acquired a Canadian NFT startup, Scarcity Labs, to assist in development. Representatives for that art-focused collective did not immediately comment. Brady’s Autograph appears to be built on Polygon.

The marketplace debut comes as the NFT craze roars back to life, sending deep-pocketed collectors and retail traders racing to trade billions of dollars of blockchain-registered images. Sports companies and athletes are also angling to get into the lucrative mix.
DraftKings is positioned to tap that energy with its 5.5 million-strong user base, said Joel Belfer, a former banking analyst for Guggenheim who writes about sports collectibles for industry newsletter Mint Condition.
“Offering NFTs on the same platform gives DraftKings an advantage: a large existing user base plugged into a platform they already trust, which can’t be overstated given how many new marketplaces are popping up,” he said.
Turning that audience on to NFTs – and keeping them engaged – is a key focus of the marketplace rollout, according to DraftKings President Matt Kalish.
Part of the strategy comes through offering the audience layered, long-term products. Debut NFTs from the “preseason access collection” will give buyers an early go at future drops from athletes including hockey great Wayne Gretzky, tennis star Naomi Osaka and others.

Each featured athlete will begin by dropping a limited number of NFT collectibles categorized as Premier drops and Signature drops within the Preseason Access Collection.
There will be multiple versions of each collectible within the Premier and Signature drops of the Preseason Access Collection, each with varying edition sizes. The size of the edition correlates to the drop price of each version of the NFTs, with the Carbon having the highest count and lowest price, and the Ruby version having the lowest count and highest price.

Signature drop collectibles will contain digital signatures authenticated by Autograph from the featured athlete in the drop. Each signature is completely unique, so if there are 100 signed editions of a Tom Brady collectible, that means Tom Brady individually signed each of the 100 editions.

Collectibles featuring signed editions will have a “Signed” badge on the Drops and Browse page. In a drop, you won’t be able to see your unique signature until you purchase your NFT. On the secondary market, you can view the details page for a signed collectible edition to see the unique signature.
Each drop will have its own queue, and users must wait in the queue for an opportunity to purchase the collectible in that specific drop. However, inventory is limited and there may be more users interested in purchasing an NFT than the total available in the specific drop. Users can ensure that they secure a place in the queue by arriving early to join the waiting room.
For each drop, the waiting room will open 30 minutes prior to the scheduled drop time. All participants that join the waiting room will have their spot in the queue randomly selected once the drop begins. Please note that making it into the queue does not guarantee that you will be able to purchase an NFT.
Users can deposit after they get through the queue, but you are encouraged to pre-fund your account to maximize the opportunity to buy an NFT.
If you do not make it through the queue or you want to purchase more than one edition of a particular NFT collectible, please browse the secondary market on the Marketplace to view editions that other users have placed for sale.
