Metaverse 裡的物件越來越具真實感了。從今天開始， 開發人員可以透過標準方式建立及分享逼真的模擬內容。蘋果 (Apple)、NVIDIA 與皮克斯動畫工作室 (Pixar Animation Studios) 已經訂定出一種通用方法，以便在虛擬 3D 環境的通用語言通用場景描述 (USD) 中，用精準符合物理定律的方式表達模型。

為了滿足規模不斷擴大的社群，USD 需要朝著多個方向延伸。皮克斯所設計的 USD 具備開放性和靈活性，因此剛好藉由 NVIDIA SIGGRAPH 2021 大會的主題演講，向外界介紹 USD 的最新擴充項目。

以技術上的術語來說，這是剛體物理學 (rigid-body physics) 的新模式， 也就是用數學的方式來描述固體在實體環境裡的行為特性。 像是模擬彈珠從斜坡上滾下來，你想要它們在相互碰撞時， 出現你所預期的反應， 開發人員需要得知彈珠的重量和坡道的平滑度等物理細節， 才能做到這一點，而這就是新的擴充項目所能提供的。

本著靈活運用的精神，開發人員可以使用這個擴充項目， 選擇任何自己喜歡的解算器 (solver)，因為他們都可以從同一組 USD 資料中驅動。如此一來便提供了一組統一的資料，可以為電影、 遊戲和擴增實境進行離線模擬。 這一點很重要，用於遊戲等即時應用場景的解算器， 視速度高於精準度，而舉例來說， 建築師們則是希望使用視精準度高於速度的解算器。

South Dakota kicks off the fall campaign by taking on the Big 12’s Kansas Jayhawks in a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday from Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas. It is the third-ever meeting between the two programs with the last coming back in 2013. The Jayhawks have since turned the program over to UW-Whitewater legend Lance Leipold who led Buffalo’s program following Whitewater and before joining Kansas. Leipold is 146-39 in 14 years as a head coach.Kansas nativeis set to make his first collegiate start at running back for the Coyotes, a team that averaged just 80 yards on the ground during the four spring games. Leading rusheris the only USD starter who didn’t return this fall so Theis along with second-year freshmenand Mike Mansaray are set to carry the load behind five offensive linemen with starting experience.Kansas hasn’t announced a starting quarterback, but the three in contention can all factor into the run game. Velton Gardner and Daniel Hishaw combined for close to 600 yards and four scores last fall. The Jayhawks averaged 105 yards rushing last year, which ranked 116nationally.started all four games as a true freshman at USD last spring. He completed 82-of-130 passes for 967 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. He added a rushing score in his collegiate debut, but 20 sacks weighed heavily into the team’s rushing numbers. Camp has all-conference wide outand all-Valley tight endin his arsenal.North Texas transfer Jason Bean is vying to be Kansas' opening-day starter along with freshman Jalon Daniels and senior Miles Kendrick who rotated at the position last fall. Super senior Kwamie Lassiter caught 43 passes for 458 yards and two scores out of the slot to lead Kansas in 2020. The Jayhawks surrendered 47 sacks in nine games a year ago.All-Valley inside linebackersandare the focal points of coordinator’s 3-4 scheme. The Coyotes allowed 223 yards on the ground last spring, and with Kansas' desire to pound the rock, USD may use more 4-3 looks to counter the attack. Edge rusherhas led USD in sacks and tackles-for-loss in each of the last two seasons. Cornerbackwas brilliant as a true freshman and led the nation in passes defended per game.Kansas didn’t fare any better in stopping the run last fall and surrendered 46 points per game as a result. Safety Kenny Logan Jr. returns as the team’s leading tackler and had half of Kansas' four interceptions. Defensive end Kyron Johnson had three sacks and totaled 42 stops. Defensive coordinator Brian Borland spent 21 years at UW-Whitewater before following Leipold to Buffalo and Kansas.South Dakota returns to Vermillion and will host Northern Arizona next Saturday in its home opener. It will be the first game inside the newly renovated DakotaDome with no fan restrictions. Those renovations totaled $26 million and included two new entrances, a modern concourse and permanent seating on the west side of the facility.
