Youngest Ambani, Baby Pandya & Tesla Heir - X Æ A-12: Lockdown Babies Of 2020
Autoplay Autoplay 1 of 15 New Beginnings The year gone by has been a challenging one. The coronavirus pandemic triggered feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and loss of life and livelihood. The world over, people struggled to hold themselves and their families together.
Amidst this pall of doom, there was some cheer as celebrities across the world of sports, showbiz and entertainment welcomed their tiniest members. From the youngest Reliance heir to Elon Musk’s seventh son, several couples announced new beginnings.
Here’s a round-up of all celebrity babies who entered the world against a pandemic backdrop. Cameron’s Angel In early January, Cameron Diaz took to Instagram to reveal that she’d welcomed her first child - a daughter named Raddix Chloe Wildflower - with husband Benji Madden. People magazine reported that using Wildflower is Diaz’s way of thanking her ‘Charlie’s Angels’ co-star Drew Barrymore whose autobiography is titled ‘Wildflower’. The two actresses have been thick since they acted together.
The couple, while posting on Instagram, had refused to post any baby pictures, as a “mark of respect to the little one’s privacy”.
A Daisy Blooms Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom turned parents in August as they welcomed baby daughter Daisy Dove. The 36-year-old Perry, who was earlier briefly married to Russell Brand, became a mom for the first time. The singer and ‘American Idol’ judge and her actor husband, citing privacy concerns, have not posted any baby pictures online of the new member.
In October, daddy dearest gave a peek into his life with Daisy during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. In the interview, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star revealed how he had been scoring ‘daddy points’ after helping to get Daisy to sleep. Bloom has a nine-year-old son, Flynn, from an earlier marriage with Miranda Kerr. Another Musk Is Here Two months into the lockdown, Elon Musk, again, made news. This time for different reasons. On May 6, the 49-year-old Space X CEO announced on Twitter that he and his partner, Canadian singer Grimes, had become parents to a baby boy. After the couple confirmed that they had decided to name the kid X Æ A-12, it became a Twitter trend.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, then explained to fans and followers that Æ, a ligature of a and e known as ash, appeared in Latin and Old English but has mostly fallen out of use. However, in some languages such as Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic, Æ is classed as a letter. The singer has used Æ before, naming a song on her latest album 4ÆM. The A-12 is a Lockheed plane built for the CIA, possibly hinting at Musk’s love for gadgets in the sky. The Phoenix Rises In September, the world came to know about Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara’s baby boy, River. Two months later, in an op-ed for People, the couple talk about raising their son for the first time. The couple, who first met during the filming of ‘Her’ in 2012, named the child River, after Phoenix’s younger brother who passed away at the age of 23.
Earlier this year, Mara, who never made her pregnancy official, stepped out with a visible bump. In July 2019, she was spotted sporting a dazzling jewel on her ring finger, fuelling engagement rumours. Since then, the couple have been seen together at the Golden Globes and Oscars red carpet.
With over 58 million followers, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is known to keep his fan base happy by regularly replying to their questions and tweets. On Tuesday, the Twitter handle of Musk’s fan club - Tesla Owners of the East Bay - took to the micro-blogging site to share an alarming piece of news that ‘population collapse’ may be happening soon.Lauding Musk, who is a father of seven kids, the group gave a shout-out to the entrepreneur for “making tangible efforts” to keep population collapse at bay.Musk took this tweet in his stride, and said that he was trying to set a good example. “Population collapse is a much bigger problem than people realise and that’s just for Earth,” he wrote. He further stressed that Mars needs people as the ‘population is currently zero’. The SpaceX CEO has a life-long dream of establishing a human presence in Earth’s neighbouring planet. In his tweet, he posted, “Humans are the custodians of other life on Earth. Let us bring life to Mars!“The Wall Street Journal on Sunday reported that the space-enthusiast, who lives in a $50K-worth, 37-square-metre prefabricated guest house in Boca Chica, Texas, had bought a $250,000 ticket to space from good friend and fellow billionaire Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic. When one user said he was hoping for the next to be a baby girl, Musk said he wishes the same. He later confidently wrote, “Next baby will be a girl.“The conversation was triggered due to the 2020 report by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation of the University of Washington that showed that the global fertility rate is likely to take a hit by 2050 and 2100.The study, published in the Lancet, showed that the global fertility rate nearly halved to 2.4 in 2017 and will fall below 1.7 by 2100.On another thread, the 50-year-old billionaire shared his concerns about the fertility rate report, and said that the civilisation may fade away slowly.Ever since the birth of his seventh child on May 4 last year, the tech boss is spending a lot of time with Baby X. More often than not, he keeps sharing pictures of the duo doing regular daddy-baby things.Baby X turned one-year-old this year. Months before his birthday, daddy Musk bought Dogecoin for the ‘lil X’ - hoping for him to a ‘toddler hodler’.Apart from Baby X, Musk is already father to six children - Xavier (17), Griffin (17), Damian (15), Saxon (15), Kai (15) and Nevada Alexander.Musk and his first-wife Jennifer Justine Wilson with whom he was married for eight years share all the six children. Musk’s first-born - Nevada Alexander - died in the 10th week of his birth in 2002 due to a condition called - the sudden infant death syndrome.
Elon Musk refused to apologize for calling diver ‘pedo’ because ‘it would make him look cowardly’
Elon Musk refused to publicly apologize for the ‘pedo guy’ comment he tweeted at the British diver who rescued young Thai soccer players trapped in a flooded cave because he was worried doing so would make him look cowardly, according to a new book.
Even as his company’s stock was dipping more than 3 percent amid his Twitter feud, the Tesla CEO even dared the diver, Vernon Unsworth, to take him to court, telling a BuzzFeed News reporter in August 2018: ‘I f***ing hope he sues me.’
Musk emailed the comment to the reporter thinking that it was off the record, but the journalist, Ryan Mac, never agreed to the arrangement. The story and Musk’s quotes were published in full on September 4, 2018.
The anecdote is relayed in reporter Tim Higgins’ new book Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk, and the Bet of the Century. An excerpt of the book was published by Vanity Fair.
Unsworth had helped rescue a dozen boys and their soccer coach from a flooded Thailand cave in 2018.
But the diver was critical of Musk’s public declarations that he could design a mini-submarine to rescue the team.
The Tesla CEO lashed out on Twitter, calling Unsworth a ‘pedo guy’ - and was sued for defamation.
In late 2019, Musk told jurors in court that he was being insulting, and not literally calling Unsworth a pedophile.

Musk said he called Unsworth ‘pedo guy’ after the diver mocked his idea of using a mini-sub to rescue a group of Thai boys trapped inside a flooded cave
Musk’s aides pleaded with him to apologize after the company stock dropped
When news of the trapped boys’ soccer team broke, Musk took an interest. On Twitter, he suggested the use of a mini-submarine that would ferry the boys to safety.
Musk even flew to the cave site and posted photos of himself there on Twitter. He left the mini-sub there for rescue workers to use in case they needed it.
He tweeted on July 9: ‘Just returned from Cave 3. Mini-sub is ready if needed. It is made of rocket parts & named Wild Boar after kids’ soccer team. Leaving here in case it may be used in the future. Thailand is so beautiful.'
But by that time a rescue attempt was initiated and Musk’s mini-sub wouldn’t be needed.
The claims were made in a new book by reporter Tim Higgins called Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk, and the Bet of the Century
The Tesla mogul wasn’t happy that the regional governor in Thailand said that the mini-sub wasn’t practical for use in a rescue mission.
The sub was never used and Unsworth called it nothing more than a ‘PR stunt’ and said Musk could stick the craft ‘where it hurts.’
The comment enraged Musk, who went on a tweetstorm in which he said: ‘Sorry pedo guy. You really did ask for it.’
Musk’s aides and deputies pleaded with him to apologize and delete the tweet, which caused the value of the company to drop.
The stock price fell by some 3.5 percent, wiping $2billion off the company valuation.
But Musk feared that apologizing would make him look like a coward.
‘We need to stop panicking,’ Musk told his charges.
Musk deleted the July 15, 2018, tweets and apologized on Twitter, though subsequent statements he made have called into question what he meant.
‘My words were spoken in anger after Mr Unsworth said several untruths & suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness & according to specifications from the dive team leader,’ Musk said in his apology.
‘Nonetheless, his actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologize to Mr Unsworth and to the companies I represent as leader. The fault is mine and mine alone. I am truly sorry if I offended anyone.’
Musk doubled down on his ‘pedo guy’ claim - reversing himself after the matter seemed to have been resolved after the apology.
In August 2018, the Tesla chief posted another Twitter tirade wondering why Unsworth didn’t sue him.
‘You don’t think it’s strange he hasn’t sued me? He was offered free legal services,’ Musk wrote, responding to a tweet from a former TechCrunch writer criticizing the ‘pedo guy’ remark.
The sub was never used and Unsworth (seen above near the cave) called it nothing more than a ‘PR stunt’ and said Musk could stick the craft ‘where it hurts’
The comment enraged Musk, who went on a tweetstorm in which he said: ‘Sorry pedo guy. You really did ask for it.’
In an email to a Buzzfeed reporter, Ryan Mac, seeking comment on the threat of a lawsuit by Unsworth’s lawyer, Musk wrote the journalist ‘should stop defending child rapists,’ followed by expletives.
Musk then explained to Mac why he thought Unsworth was actually a peodphile.
‘[Unsworth is] an old, single white guy from England who’s been traveling to or living in Thailand for 30 to 40 years, mostly Pattaya Beach, until moving to Chiang Rai for a child bride who was about 12 years old at the time,’ Musk wrote to Mac.
There was no truth to Musk’s suggestion that Unsworth traveled to Thailand to find a child bride.
The diver was in Southeast Asia because that’s where his Thai girlfriend was from. She was 40 years old at the time.
‘There’s only one reason people go to Pattaya Beach,’ Musk wrote.
‘It isn’t where you’d go for caves, but it is where you’d go for something else.
WHAT WAS ELON MUSK’S PLAN TO SAVE THE THAI CHILDREN TRAPPED IN FLOODED TUNNELS? Twelve young footballers and their 25-year-old coach became trapped in a flooded cave system in Thailand on June 23, 2018. Divers and other rescue worker worked frantically to come up with a plan to free the youngsters imprisoned in the Tham Luang Nang Non caves. On July 6, almost two weeks later, billionaire Elon Musk shared suggestions for those working on the ground after receiving tweets requesting his input. Elon Musk said his Boring Co, which digs tunnels for advanced transport systems, could feed a nylon tube into the submerged sections of the cave before inflating it ‘like a bouncy castle’ to create an underwater tunnel. Musk also committed to sending top engineers from his Boring Co. and SpaceX companies to help free the trapped schoolchildren. According to the Tesla CEO, rescuers could use electric pumps to remove water from flooded entrance of the cave network – eliminating one of the bodies of water those trapped would need to cross. Nylon tubes measuring some 3ft (1m) in diameter could then be fed through the cave network to the flooded sections. Battery packs and air pumps would be used to inflate the nylon tubes, submerged underwater. These tubes would provide an escape tunnel the children could crawl through to safety, Musk suggests. However, Professor John Gunn from the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Birmingham and chair of the cave research association, had reservations about details of the scheme. He said: ‘If you imagine a tunnel under London flooded, this this would be straight with a few bends. ‘However, this is more like asking to thread a pipe through all the aisles of a supermarket, up the stairs, down the stairs and then back through the aisles and also in total darkness and underwater. ‘You can see it is more complicated. If he was proposing the pipe is moved by divers then I think that’s a non-starter.’ Advertisement
‘Chiang Rai is renowned for child sex trafficking. He may claim to know how to cave dive, but he wasn’t on the cave dive rescue team and most of the actual dive team refused to hang out with him. I wonder why…’
He then added: ‘I f***ing hope he sues me.’
Unsworth took Musk up on his suggestion, filing a $190million defamation lawsuit in 2018.
In a court filing, Musk asked the judge for a summary judgement and explained all the reasons why he thinks he is innocent of defamation.
He also tells how he hired private investigator James Howard after calling Unsworth ‘pedo guy’ on Twitter and says he paid him $50,000 to look into the Brit.
The first reason Musk gives is an apparent explanation of why he is not guilty of defamation is described as follows; ‘Musk based his comments to BuzzFeed on what a private investigator said about Mr. Unsworth, both in written reports and by phone, based on an investigation he claimed to have undertaken in Thailand and England.
‘The investigator reported that Mr. Unsworth was a fixture in Pattaya Beach, Thailand, a locale notorious for prostitution and child trafficking, that he had a taste for young Thai girls, that he w**re-mongered his way through the go-go bars of Thailand, that his only friends were his ‘sexpat’ peers, and that he married his Thai wife when she was a teenager, after starting a relationship when she was a young girl.’
There was no truth to Musk’s suggestion that Unsworth traveled to Thailand to find a child bride. The diver was in Southeast Asia because that’s where his Thai wife was from. She was 40 years old at the time. Unsworth is seen right with his wife, Woranan Ratrawiphukkun
In 2019, Unsworth filed a $190million defamation lawsuit against Musk. A jury found Musk was not liable for defamation. Musk and Unsworth are seen in the above court sketches during their testimony in Los Angeles federal court in December 2019
It then says he sent the claims to BuzzFeed, ‘making clear it could not publish any of his statements because they were ‘off the record’
‘He believed they would further investigate rather than simply publish his well-founded concerns,’ Musk’s lawyer writes.
He says he had no way of knowing BuzzFeed would print his claims without further proof of them and that it’s not his fault the media outlet did.
The motion goes on to say that while the private investigator’s information was dud - it ‘does not matter’.
‘Musk had a constitutionally-sufficient basis to say what he said to BuzzFeed.
‘Although it turns out that the investigator lacked solid evidence of Mr. Unsworth’s behavior, that does not matter here,’ it says.
A jury ruled that Musk was not liable for defamation.
Elon Musk tweets ‘Free Britney’ as latest celeb to support pop star
Elon Musk voiced support for Britney Spears on Monday, tweeting, “Free Britney,” in the latest high-profile show of support for the pop star in the midst of her conservatorship battle.
The Space X CEO’s early morning post about the “Oops! … I did it again” singer went viral, racking up about 20 million retweets within hours Monday morning. With the tweet, Musk joined a chorus of others who have formed a movement to end Spears’ unwanted legal arrangement.
The Mississippi-born best-selling artist’s approximately $60 million fortune has for 13 been in the hands of her father, Jamie Spears, who the youngers Spears said has forced her to work, to take birth control and drugged her.
Spears lost in her latest effort to gain control over her finances and life on Thursday, when court documents showed a judge had denied her bid to remove her “abusive” father from the controversial conservatorship that has controlled her life for more than a decade.

The ruling was in response to a November request by Spears’ lawyer to add wealth management firm Bessemer Trust to the troubling conservatorship and remove her dad.
It was not a direct response to Spears’ impassioned confessional during a virtual status hearing last month — in which the singer said she felt like a prisoner and was unable to even get married or have more kids.
“Ma’am, my dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, and my management, who played huge roles in punishing me when I said ‘No’ [to going on tour] — Ma’am, they should be in jail,” Spears said at the June 23 hearing.

“I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy,” she added. “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized… I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry. It’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”
Musk’s public advocacy came after fellow star Christina Aguilera also recently backed Spears, decrying “unacceptable” treatment.
“These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through,” read the singer’s statement, posted on Aguilera’s Instagram story on June 28.
“It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.”

Meanwhile, AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys in June said he was on team Free Britney.
“At the end of the day, the truth will come out. I am 100 million percent on the #FreeBritney train because I completely agree with it,” he said. “All of us should just pray for Britney and also pray for her family.”
